Probate Filing Fees

Specific fee amounts are not available for this county. New Hampshire probate filing fees are STATEWIDE. One schedule, N.H. Circuit Court Probate Division Rule 169, governs all ten probate divisions; it is adopted under RSA 490:26-a and the money is paid to the clerk of the circuit court under RSA 490:27, so no county sets, keeps or varies a probate filing fee. The Petition for Estate Administration is a FLAT fee chosen by the estate's gross value at two breakpoints: $150 at a gross value of $10,000 or less, $205 for over $10,000 up to $25,000, and $305 for a gross value greater than $25,000. The top tier is flat and open-ended, so an estate of $30,000 and an estate of $30,000,000 both pay $305; the single figure stored here is that top-tier amount, which is what almost every administered estate pays. Those breakpoints are FEE tiers only and create no simplified procedure. The entry fee already includes the $55 publication charge on estates over $10,000 (no publication is required at $10,000 or less, RSA 553:16), a $30 electronic case filing surcharge (Rule 169(VII)) and the $5 mediation and arbitration fund surcharge (RSA 490:27, II). It does NOT include in-hand service by a sheriff, or extra copies and certificates. A Motion for Summary Administration is $105 on top of the entry fee already paid to open the estate. An accounting is $0 where the gross estate is $25,000 or less and $105 above that. Certificates under the seal of the court are $10 each, copies $0.50 per page, certification $10 plus the copy fee, an authenticated (exemplified) copy of probate $40, and a records research request $6.50 per name per court. Every amount was read on 2026-08-03 at Rule 169 and on the Judicial Branch's published Circuit Court Filing Fees schedule, whose own first page is dated 07/01/2025. Since September 3, 2025 a 3% fee applies to card payments made through TurboCourt or File & Serve. Confirm the current amount with the circuit court clerk before filing. WHY NO SINGLE NUMBER IS STORED HERE: the Petition for Estate Administration is tiered by gross estate value, so the three estate_administration_* fields ARE the fact and no bare formal_administration figure is stored. A single number would be published verbatim by filing-packet.ts as "Formal administration: $X" and would misstate two of the three brackets -- an estate of $10,000 or less pays $150 and one up to $25,000 pays $205, not the $305 top-tier amount. The schedule is not graduated in the Maine or Ohio sense either: the three tiers are flat and the top one is open-ended, so an estate of $30,000 and an estate of $30,000,000 both pay $305, with no per-dollar step and no marginal rate. summary_administration (105) is the builder-read numeric fee. Never present a single figure as the New Hampshire administration fee, and never extrapolate a larger one.
