Note: North Dakota has NO probate tax and NO per-county or value-based filing fee: the same statutory fee applies in Burke County as in every county. Fees per N.D.C.C. 27-05.2-03(1)(a): $160 "For filing a case for decision that is not under subdivision b or e" ($30 civil legal services fund, $130 general fund), in force since July 1, 2025 (2025 SB 2057). The statute does not name probate; the evidence that opening an estate pays subdivision (1)(a) is 30.1-21-08 (a subsequent-administration petitioner pays "a filing fee as prescribed in section 27-05.2-03") and the State Court Administrator's 2025 SB 2057 testimony recorded in the sourcing brief. The court system's fee schedule is on www.ndcourts.gov and was not read. Confirm the charge for an informal application with the clerk. The N.D.C.C. 30.1-23-01 small estate affidavit is never filed with a court, so small_estate_affidavit is 0.
