Note: Fees per N.D.C.C. § 27-05.2-03, set by statute for every North Dakota county: $160 "For filing a case for decision that is not under subdivision b or e" (subsection (1)(a); $30 to the civil legal services fund and $130 to the general fund), in effect since July 1, 2025 under 2025 SB 2057 (S.L. ch. 297). The statute does not name probate; the evidence that opening an estate pays subdivision (1)(a) is § 30.1-21-08 (a subsequent-administration petition pays "a filing fee as prescribed in section 27-05.2-03") and the State Court Administrator's 2025 SB 2057 testimony. Preparing, certifying, issuing or transmitting a document costs $20 or a lesser fee set by the state court administrator ((1)(g)). North Dakota has NO probate tax and NO per-county or value-based filing fee. The court system's own fee schedule is on www.ndcourts.gov and was not read (www.ndcourts.gov answers the ClaudeBot UA with HTTP 403 'Your request was blocked.' (Cloudflare, 2026-09-28)), so confirm the charge for an informal application with the Richland County clerk before filing. The N.D.C.C. 30.1-23-01 small estate affidavit is never filed with a court, so small_estate_affidavit is 0.
