Northampton County grant-of-letters (probate) fees are graduated on the gross estate value: $30 (up to $25,000), $50 ($25,001 to $50,000), $75 ($50,001 to $75,000), $100 ($75,001 to $100,000), $120 ($100,001 to $150,000), $150 ($150,001 to $250,000), $250 ($250,001 to $350,000), $350 ($350,001 to $450,000), rising to $950 ($950,001 to $1,000,000), plus $400 for each additional $1,000,000. The JCP fee (currently $41.25), an inheritance tax return fee ($15), inventory ($10), and county fees are also charged at probate. A short certificate is $5.
