Case Search
Use the city or town case-search tool when you need live docket or estate-case status information. Search results may not include every probate record.
Rhode Island runs NO statewide probate case index. Because R.I. Gen. Laws § 8-9-9 puts jurisdiction in each of the 39 cities and towns, each municipal probate court keeps its own docket and there is no single portal to search them all. The Rhode Island Judiciary's public portal covers the Supreme, Superior, Family, District and Traffic courts and does NOT reach probate. Treat this court's own page as the entry point, and call the clerk to confirm whether an estate has been opened. Any online index a municipality publishes covers only that municipality and usually only recent years, so it is a lookup surface and not a complete or certified probate record.
