Use the county case-search tool when you need live docket or estate-case status information. Search results may not include every probate record.

VERMONT PROBATE CASES ARE NOT REMOTELY SEARCHABLE BY THE PUBLIC, and this is the fact most likely to be assumed wrong from a neighbouring state. Vermont runs ONE statewide Public Portal for all 14 probate districts, with no per-county docket search, and the portal states its own coverage in its own words: 'Anonymous public users and members of the general public can view case summaries for Civil Division and Judicial Bureau cases remotely. Document viewing and access to all other public case types (criminal, family, probate and others) is available to the general public only at courthouse public access terminals.' So a probate docket is reachable remotely only by a case party, attorney or agency user who has registered AND been granted elevated access to that case; everyone else uses a public access terminal at a courthouse. Registration for elevated access is a two-step process and requires the email address on file with the court to match. Two further limits: the portal is unavailable to users physically outside the United States, its territories and Canada; and it is a lookup surface only, not a certified record and not a substitute for contacting the Probate Division. ELECTRONIC FILING IS A DIFFERENT SYSTEM -- the portal states that 'electronic filing is not done through the Public Portal'.
