What This County Snapshot Covers

Case Search
Use the county case-search tool when you need live docket or estate-case status information. Search results may not include every probate record.
Vermont runs ONE statewide Public Portal for all 14 probate divisions; there is no per-county docket search. In the Judiciary's own words the Portal "offers court users and members of the general public customized role-based access to court records, hearing calendars and other data", and "Anonymous public users may access limited types of case and hearing information. No registration is required for this level of access." Parties and attorneys who need more must register and request elevated access, and a case party's Portal email must match an email already on file in the court's case management system. TWO LIMITS THAT MATTER TO AN EXECUTOR: the anonymous view is deliberately limited, so absence of a case from it is not evidence the case does not exist; and the Judiciary restricts the Portal to users physically located in the United States, its territories and Canada for cybersecurity reasons, so an executor abroad cannot reach it and should contact the probate division directly. The Portal is a lookup surface, not a certified record and not a complete probate index. Helpdesk: [email protected] with "Public Portal" in the subject line.
