Note: WASHINGTON'S PROBATE FILING FEE IS A FLAT, STATEWIDE, STATUTORY $290 WHATEVER THE ESTATE IS WORTH. It is not banded by estate value, not a percentage, not a probate tax, and no county sets or varies it. The build is RCW 36.18.020(2)(f) $200 for the first document in a probate proceeding, plus two surcharges that the statute says the clerk 'must' collect: $40 under (5)(c), which applies to all filing fees except (2)(b), (d) and (h), and $50 under (6), which applies to (2)(a), (b), (c), (e), (f) and (g). Every subsection was read verbatim at the live statute on 2026-08-07. THE $50 SURCHARGE IS NEW: 2025 c 357 added subsection (6) effective 27 July 2025, so any source still quoting $240 predates it and any source quoting $200 has omitted both surcharges.
