NEBRASKA'S ONLINE COURT CASE SEARCH IS NOT FREE, AND THE FREE VERSION IS NOT ONLINE. The Nebraska Judicial Branch runs one statewide trial-court case management system, JUSTICE, covering criminal, civil, traffic, juvenile AND PROBATE cases in all 93 county and district courts. The JUSTICE One-Time Court Case Search charges $17 PER SEARCH, returns up to 30 records, and the page states in its own words that searches with no results still require payment. A subscriber account through Nebraska.gov costs $100 a year, makes general searches free and charges $2 to view any one case's details, with no extra charge for document images. What is genuinely free is in person: the judicial branch states that case information in JUSTICE can be accessed AT NO COST at any courthouse kiosk or law library, including the Nebraska State Library and the law libraries at the University of Nebraska and Creighton. Coverage is not complete: there is a 24-hour lag before a new case appears, document images are available only for documents filed after April 16, 2008, and each court has its own JUSTICE installation date, so older cases in this county may not be online at all. Treat the search as a finding aid and confirm anything that matters with the clerk of the county court.
