Macon County Tax Collector
Macon County Tax Department, 5 West Main Street, Annex Building, Franklin, NC 28734
Macon County says real and personal property tax bills are mailed in July or August, taxes are due September 1, payment without interest may be made through January 5 or the next business day, and taxes not paid in full by January 5 are subject to a 2% penalty on January 6 plus 0.75% interest each month thereafter. The county says liability for unpaid taxes transfers to the owner as of the date taxes become past due. It also says a new bill-pay platform supports online payments and account features. Verify estate payoff, refunds, payment timing, delinquent status, and whether a balance shown online is complete before product-facing use.
